at prendergast holly fields school, nose studs have now been banned. unfortunately this is bad timing as now many students have recently got theirs pieced. nose piercing take a lot longer to heal then ear piercings and can be very painful and easily infected. it is very unfair how there is no explanation to this rule yet everyone has been forced to obey it. those who refuse to take out their piecing have been sent to isolation (a room with very few people and a teacher) and been told to stay their till it’s out. nose piercings take up to 6 months to heal and 6 months in isolation is not ideal. taking away our learning from us over a piercing is not ideal. we are not even allowed to cover it, we have been told that it must be fully out with not much explanation as to why. teachers have said we are allowed to wear a clear plastic nose stud however in order to put in the plastic one you have to take out your normal one which could lead to a lot of pain and infections. also there is not much difference between a clear metal one and a clear plastic one? this is very unfair.
