Mountainview Board of Trustees, please reconsider your decision regarding little Luca. His parents, were heartbroken to learn that he will not be able to attend Whare Ako, the special learning unit that they believe is crucial for his development.

Luca is a bright and loving child who faces challenges daily. Like any parent, they want to provide him with the best possible education tailored to his needs. The Whare Ako unit has a reputation for excellence in supporting children like Luca, helping them thrive in a safe and nurturing environment. Excluding Luca means denying him the opportunity to reach his full potential.

The special learning unit is designed for children with unique learning needs, offering them personalized programs and expert support. It's not just about education; it's about inclusion, acceptance, and giving every child, regardless of their challenges, a fair chance to succeed. Luca's participation in this program is not only beneficial for him but also plays a crucial part in promoting diversity and understanding within the school community.

A child like Luca missing out on this special support due to bureaucratic hurdles is simply unjust. Many families have seen positive transformations in their children after being part of Whare Ako. Studies show that specialized education programs increase social skills, improve academic performance, and enhance the overall quality of life for children with learning difficulties. This is why this issue is so personal and urgent.

We acknowledge the challenges the board faces in resource allocation, but inclusivity should be a keystone of our educational values. Luca and children like him deserve a place where they can learn and grow with dignity. By allowing Luca to attend Whare Ako, the board would be setting a precedent for a more inclusive and compassionate community.

We implore the Mountainview Board of Trustees to revisit their decision. Examine the profound impact that their choice has on not just one child's life but on a whole community that thrives when all its members are given equal opportunities.
