🚨 The High Roller Was Too Dope For Approval
Dope Pickleball launched the first-ever chrome-edge paddle—the High Roller—a luxury-performance weapon with a gold electroplated edge guard.

No one else in the industry had pulled this off before we pushed the limits of this sport, most likely due to the official USAP manufacturing rulebook. It took us years of R&D, material science, and an uncompromising commitment to craft something truly original.

We didn’t knock off.
We didn’t borrow ideas.
We created the lane.

We filed for Trade Dress protection through our parent company to protect this iconic look. That filing is still pending—but it formally recognizes our product as one-of-a-kind and distinctive in the marketplace.

🏆 The Paddle Went Viral — Super Bowl Style

The High Roller went big time.

It showed up in Michelob Ultra’s Super Bowl commercial, placed in the hands of pro athletes, CEOs and more.

This paddle wasn't just new tech—it is a new culture in pickleball.

Players wanted it. Other companies took notice finally.

It was featured by Forbes! You can read the article here: The Story Behind The Distinctive Pickleball Paddles In The Michelob Super Bowl Ad

USA Pickleball Still Said “No.”
The story started to shift from why the gold was not approved. Repeatedly. Lets breakdown the changes.

❗️ First reason for denial:
Electroplated edge guards will be banned.”
We asked for clarification on why a blanket ban on electroplated edgeguards. We followed up many times. No written rule. No published guidance. Just a closed-door rejection. No responses.

Then Another Large Brand Used Electroplated Chrome Edges... and Got Approved. 🤔
Shortly after, a major paddle brand dropped a new model with a chrome electroplated edge guard. You most likely have seen it...

Same manufacturing technique. Same aesthetic.
They got approved.

We called it out. So they changed the reason why it was banned..

Now USA Pickleball said the rejection wasn’t about electroplating. It was about surface gloss levels. Specifically, they cited a rule that limits paddles to a surface gloss value below 80 GV on their equipment "surface".

Here's the problem:
We tested other approved paddles surfaces, specifically those with carbon 3K "titanium" weave faces exactly like the High Roller—and guess what?

They test at above 80+ Gloss Value.

That’s more than the legal limit they stated.
Still approved.
Still selling in stores.

🎯 So What’s Really Going On?
Let’s be real:

✅ The chrome edge gives no unfair advantage.
✅ It doesn’t affect spin, bounce, or performance—it’s just materials and finish.
✅ What it does do is stand out. Disrupt. Turn heads. Make the game more stylish, expressive, and fun.

We believe that’s the real reason we’re being blocked.

We’re the small, loud, flashy brand that didn’t wait for permission. And now, Big Pickleball is trying to shut the door on really only us.

🔥 So What’s Next?
We’re not backing down.

We’re still waiting on a decision for our trade dress protection, which will solidify our position as the original creators of the chrome-edge design.

We’re continuing to call out inconsistent standards and double treatment between big brands and independent innovators.

And we’re still building—new paddles, new designs, and a loyal community of rebels who believe in making pickleball dope again. A kickstarter for our next paddle: 2 different colors, silver chrome and mint blue chrome. Keep an eye out for it on our socials.

✊ Keep Sharing the Petition

This isn’t just about one paddle.
It’s about the future of creativity in the sport for new brands who change the narrative and sport.

Let the people who make the rules know: you can’t kill innovation. You can’t silence style. And you definitely can’t stop the chrome.

Thank you for riding with us. This is just the beginning.
