I am starting this petition because my dog Blue is currently kept at the Hamburg animal shelter (Süderstraße), even though a lawful family home outside Hamburg, in Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen), is available for him.
Blue was taken into custody by the Hamburg veterinary authority because, under current breed-related regulations, he is not permitted to be kept within the city of Hamburg.

This assessment still applies today, and I do not dispute it.

For this very reason, I have responsibly arranged a legal home outside Hamburg, within my family.

Blue would live there permanently, in a safe and stable environment, while still remaining part of the family through regular visits.

Important clarification

I am not requesting permission to keep Blue in Hamburg.
I fully accept the legal restrictions.
I have acted responsibly by securing a lawful placement in Lower Saxony.
The transfer to my acquaintance / family member was legal and appropriate.

Why I am asking for help
Keeping Blue in the shelter is, in my view:an unnecessary burden on him,not required, since a lawful alternative exists,
and disproportionate, as the original purpose of the seizure
(public safety within Hamburg)
can be fully achieved through placement outside Hamburg.

A shelter should not be a permanent solution when a legal, family-based home is available.

My request

I respectfully ask the authorities and the court to:

approve Blue’s release from the shelter,

recognize the lawful placement in Lower Saxony,
make a proportionate, animal-welfare-oriented decision,
and allow Blue to return to his family.

Blue is not a case file.

He is my dog.

And he has a legal home.
