Dear supporters,
Thank you so much for the support you've shown this petition - so far we have reached an amazing 33 thousand signatures! Please do keep sharing it on social media.
This issue certainly seems to be gaining traction:
- Since this petition went live two months ago, we've had a fair bit of news coverage. You can now read about the campaign in The Times, The Telegraph, and The Economist.
- In the last week, the roads minister Lillian Greenwood responded to written questions on the driving test backlog from three other MPs. Read her responses here, here, and here. Many members of Parliament have now asked questions about this issue, but answers continue to be unsatisfactory, with no mention of any plans to introduce surge capacity - without which the backlog cannot be cleared.
- On Wednesday at 4.30pm, there will be a Westminster Hall debate on driving test availability. You can watch the debate live on Parliament TV, or read the official transcript afterwards - or you can attend in person for free!
