Our collective voices have been heard! The College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario have just REVISED their Telepractice guidelines. The new guidelines, posted on the College's public website, mean that remote Chinese medicine services will finally be accessible to the thousands of Ontarians who have been unable to attend in-person clinical sessions due to COVID-19 infection risks as well as other factors such as disabilities, geographic limitations, etc. Under the new guidelines, the College acknowledge that, as long as the practitioner has appropriate competency and safety measures in place, and communicates the risks or limitations of telepractice care, they may "use their professional judgement to assess on a case-by-case basis if the use of telepractice is in the patient's best interest." The new position statement on telepractice is a key step toward increased accessibility of Registered Acupuncturist and Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner services at a time when so many Ontarians are desperate for physical and mental health care. Hopefully the revised statement will encourage insurance companies to extend their coverage these telepractice services as well. If you wish to help out with that campaign, please email ontarioacupuncture20@gmail.com. Thank you again for your support of this petition!
