Yesterday we said our final goodbyes to my mum Anne Duke, the inspiration behind this petition and the person who gave her name to Annes Law in a fight to ensure care home residents never experience the isolation and separation she was forced to endure in the last 21months of her life. 

My mum was a force to be reckoned with and I like to think I have inherited that from her. She was a bubbly, lively, fun loving person. Dementia robbed her of a lot but what i’ll never be able to overcome is how she was robbed of family life in her last 21months to “protect her” as it didn’t work and it’s about time the government and care sector realise this as a whole!

Covid didn’t kill mum but the isolation from her family most definitely played a part. It breaks my heart to think we weren’t allowed to be there for her properly those last 21months.

It would mean the world to me for this petition to reach 100k signatures as a legacy of her last 21months, please do continue to share and help Care Home Relatives Scotland use this as a platform for our campaign.
