Many a visits pre covid I would show up to see mum and she would be sound asleep.

Which was cool as she’s the one who is sick so we adapt to her.

Sometimes I would just sit and chill with her untill she woke up as I knew I could be there for as long as I wanted and she is at peace from the Dementia when she is asleep.

Sometimes I would leave run a few errands and come back again in the hope she was awake to see my face and know I have visited her.

Sometimes I would come back the next day.

I don’t know when these days will return, my time with mum is timed and limited to once a week now so leaves no room for freedom to adapt to how the Dementia is effecting mum.

Today is my last visit before I am due to give birth (2weeks today ) and mum is sound asleep. I am happy to sit and chill with her like we used to but it just makes me sad she may not know I was here.

It also frustrates me I can’t leave and do a few things then come back.

Please please don’t believe that all is back to normal for care home residents and their families as it’s not.

This is nothing to do with the care home it’s to do with the policy makers, they have done this to us, the families, the residents and the staff are the one suffering.

Level 0 brings 0 normality our way!

All I can do is fight for #AnnesLaw alongside Care Home Relatives Scotland and at least make this the legacy of the suffering we have all had to endure and continue to endure.
