On Duty Concealed Carry for First Responders Petition Update

I must begin by saying that I am in awe of the response that this petition has received in a few short days. I had hoped to have 1,000 signatures by November, but because each of you have refused to accept the status quo, we are now at 2,700 signatures (and counting). I could not be more impressed! I was raised to believe that there are only two things that no one can steal from you; your word and your name. These two valuable things can only be given. Thus, I would like to thank each of you for giving this petition your time and especially for giving it your name. When I sat down to write this update I was uncertain as to how to open. I pondered what to call you all, as a group. I thought to myself, “Should I call them ‘fellow first responders’, ‘friends’, ‘spouses’, ‘2nd Amendment advocates’ or even ‘fellow gun nuts’” (I’ve been called that more than once)! The fact is, your signatures represent all of the above. I think “Family” seems to be the most appropriate, particularly given that the most common comment seems to be something like, “I want to be safe so I can return home to my family”. Clearly, each of you truly understands the intent of this effort. We’re not trying to be Dirty Harry, we simply want to return home to our loved ones or to have our loved ones return home to us. Remember that the power of your voice is amplified with each person that you share this petition with. One share may turn into a hundred signatures, or even more! Make the legislators in Texas hear your voice! Make the legislators around the nation hear all of our voices!! I have shared my proposal with people from three other states, who were looking to start a similar effort.
