A Call for Justice; for Dontay Green

The Issue

Dontay Green Sr., was shot by Pittsburgh Police officers on July 15, 2018.  Since then, Dontay has faced numerous injustices at the hands of officials from Pittsburgh and Allegheny County. He's currently being silenced as he's being jailed with no bail

Please read or listen to the narrative, and sign the petition to show your support for Dontay, his family, and his fight against police brutality, structural racism, and injustice in Pittsburgh.

We demand Justice for Dontay.

This is not Dontay's fight alone, but one we must all shoulder as we search, collectively, for Justice, understanding, compassion, and Truth.

While visiting family just a few miles away from his home , Dontay was accused of being in an altercation. After being aporached by police he fearfully began to run for retreat. He then was shot from behind.

Pittsburgh is a place where a man is suspected of being a criminal based solely on the color of his skin.  Allegheny County’s DA confirmed: a neighborhood’s past relations with the police and high rates of gun crimes are sufficient specific and articulable factors that allow police to detain and frisk a citizen in the name of officer safety, all because he’s wearing a white t-shirt on a Sunday.

After being shot, the arresting officer then undressed Dontay to search his body and look anything illegal.

He is charged with aggravated assault against the police officers, as well as other crimes. Even, as it was the testimony of officers under oath, Dontay was "not given the chance to assault them", the original accuser never showing up; and was running at his possible maximum speed away from everyone.

As American citizens, it is our absolute right to have a fair trial. It is our right to be treated as innocent until proven guilty. And it is our right to make sure Stephen Zappala's office and Pittsburgh Police are held accountable for their mistreatment of all people. So his family asked for your support as we attempt to have the body camera footage released as it will help Dontay and many cases like this.
