Sadly Western law often puts a higher value on the theft of property than assaults on humans but that is wrong on so many levels – especially morally and spiritually.

Yet what is being uncovered as the Russians retreat from the western parts of the Ukraine to focus on splitting the country into two – fear not, I have not succumbed to the Russian spin doctors as I fully understand that they are doing this as they have failed militarily and that the Great Barbarian Putin wishes to show some small success to his unhappy countrymen before they turn on him.

As the shroud is rolled back we have seen exposed a bloody story of Russian crimes against humanity – civilian executions, beatings, the multiple rape and abuse of Ukrainian females, illegal deportation of entire families into Russia – and we know from history what happens when the bear swallows up people – they tend to disappear forever.

As we dealing with Genghis Khan reincarnated 795 years later?  

I despair of a species that can put a man on the moon, can put all human knowledge in front of you at the stroke of a key board, that can draw unlimited energy from wind and sun, that can paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, that can compose Bohemian Rhapsody or do a heart transplant to save a life yet cannot control its worst, base instincts.

People say that it is in our animal DNA but in nature few animals torture others, nature seeks a balance in that those deaths are only for food or protection of the victor’s young.

I, and I am sure many of you do the same, cry for humanity – we were given the perfect playground in the universe yet we go on and on messing it up.

For what?

Seventy seven years after the last World War we have allowed another lunatic into absolute power, one who may drag us to the abyss – let’s not let him.

In our small way let’s push the UK Government (and other Western leaders if possible) into liquidating those frozen assets already obtained and to seize even more if possible. That action has a threefold benefit:-

i.                    The raised funds can be used to directly help the Ukrainian people who have been displaced by the millions, and the generous countries buckling under this sudden influx like Poland.

ii.                  We are taking funds from the undeserving – check the background of these oligarchs as I have done and you will be shocked at the foundations of their fortunes – and passing them to the most deserving – the Ukrainian refugees who are the real innocent victims in all this.

iii.                Those oligarchs who have had assets taken, and their lesser friends - the fleas on a dog you might say – will take action to pressure Putin to halt the war or in extreme circumstances remove him. Russia has a history of removing the unworthy (although sadly they have a similar history of appointing new ones).

In Blackadder I recall the captain of that name, on news they should advance into no-man’s land, commenting on the futility, and stupidity, of the war by saying, “Field Marshal Haig is about to make yet another gargantuan effort to move his drinks cabinet six inches closer to Berlin!”

Like everyone I laughed at the TV remark. With hindsight I believe that laughter was not the smartest reaction from my younger self. In truth the remark was a subtle commentary on the thousands that would die for this simple order – 70,000 died in the first day of the Somme alone.

Yet is not Putin similar to those who issue such an order – what does he gain from attacking the Ukraine?

His conscripts have died by the 100, then by the 1,000, now doubt soon by the 10,000s. Young Russian soldiers now resort to the worst, base behaviour – inflicting suffering on civilians because they in turn are afraid to die – Sigmund Freud would have a field day.

FOR WHAT REAL REASON?

So mad, bad, Putin can recreate his fantasy idea of the old Soviet Union!

Another Empire built on the bodies of those who opposed the ruling elite – or even were thought to have been in opposition – as they say just because you think you are paranoid does not mean nobody is after you!  

Insanity!

Please pass my petition along so we can get this megalomaniac off the world stage and funds can flow back to the Ukraine so its people can rebuild their lives, even if they cannot forget the atrocities.
