Dear Supporter,
It’s great that Aldi carries a lot of vegan products. Shoppers love it and clearly plant-based products are an important revenue stream for Aldi.
But vegans care deeply about animal welfare. While Aldi might be branded as “vegan friendly” it is still lagging in animal welfare, as evidenced by a lack of real progress on eliminating gestation crates from its supply chain.
Please let Aldi know that it can’t hide behind its vegan friendly accolades … and if they really care about animal welfare they would commit to getting rid of gestation crates once and for all.
Call Aldi customer service: (800)325-7894 (Option #4) Mon–Fri 9 to 5 EST
Tell them:
- All the vegan products you carry are great … but
- One of the reasons you buy vegan food is because you care about animal welfare
- Carrying vegan products is no excuse for low animal welfare standards
- Please commit to a timeline to end the use of gestation crates in your supply chain
Note: Aldi will tell you that it doesn’t farm its own animals. Tell them you know this, and that’s why you are asking them to require their suppliers to get rid of crates.
Thank you … and please post the responses you get from Aldi in the discussion section below.
