Dear Supporter,

It's been several months since we last reached out to you about our campaign to get Aldi to commit to ending the use of gestation crates in its supply chain. Rest assured − we have NOT forgotten about the campaign nor your support in helping us get to nearly 334,000 supporters!

We’ve temporarily paused the campaign for a short time as we all learn to navigate our lives during this pandemic. We know everyone has their own struggles and are still adjusting to a new reality. But we also know this is a very important issue for all of us and animals continue to suffer and in some ways now more than ever. As we are seeing, COVID-19 is shining a spotlight on the perils of factory farming and our need to address its impact on our health, the environment and the innocent animals who are raised for food.

Please see our recent blog post: A Spotlight on the Multitude of Issues with Factory Farming in the Age of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

As a reminder, last year we met with Aldi at their U.S. Headquarters. Shortly after our meeting, Aldi updated its online animal welfare policy saying “we expect our suppliers to pursue the elimination of crates for pregnant sows in favor of group housing.”  Unfortunately, an “expectation” is much different than a “requirement.” Therefore, Aldi still continues to permit this cruel practice with no timeline whatsoever to eliminate it.

Our goal remains the same: Get Aldi to commit to a firm timeline to end the use of gestation crates in its supply chain. Look for us to continue our efforts in the coming months. Together, we can make a huge difference.

For the animals,
