Petition Against Unjust Alcohol Price Hike in Maharashtra
We, the concerned citizens of Maharashtra, strongly oppose the recent hike in alcohol prices imposed by the state government. While the cost of alcohol continues to rise sharply, the condition of our public infrastructure — especially the roads — remains dangerously poor. Countless accidents occur due to potholes, broken highways, and unfinished roads, yet the government has shown little urgency in addressing this pressing issue.
Instead of investing in road repairs and public safety, the government has chosen to extract more revenue from alcohol — disproportionately affecting the common man. This move feels less like governance and more like exploitation.
To add to the injustice, while subsidies like the Ladli Behan Yojna are being promoted for women’s welfare — which we welcome and support — the burden of funding such schemes is being unfairly passed onto others through alcohol taxation. This selective policy affects only Maharashtra, making the people of our state bear the financial weight of government decisions alone.
We demand accountability and prioritization of essential services over arbitrary revenue collection. Fix our roads first, ensure basic safety and infrastructure, and then talk about price hikes — not the other way around.
We urge the government to roll back the alcohol price hike until public infrastructure shows real and measurable improvement.
