I am petitioming for change to the law in Alberta against rehabilitation of mammals in the province. All too often I hear about baby bears being shot because their mother was hit by a car on the highway or a bear being shot because it took food from an ignorant tourist who offered it. Irecently visited the grizzly bear sanctuary in Kicking horse and was interested to hear that in BC bears are rehabilitated and released into the wild rather than being shot. They also informed me that in Alberta there is no such practice, in alberta they are euthanized. Why is this? We are a province with National Parks just like BC, with towns situated inside these parks. We should learn to coexist but it seems we are taking over instead. This was their land first and we invaded their space. With how much growth this province has seen in the past four years this law is now very out of date. There are many facilities in Alberta ready and willing to properly rehabilitate and re-release animals into the wild. This is something I and many others feel strongly about. I would greatly appreciate your help in the matter, the more people who speak out the stronger the cause!
