The AK State Senate has already passed legislation that would end daylight saving time. If we just end daylight savings time in AK we will be 2 to 5 hours behind the lower 48 in the Summer. What a bummer! But if we move to Pacific time and end daylight saving time we will be 1 to 4 hours behind during summer months and 0 to 3 hours behind in the winter. Plus we will still have more daylight in the evenings during Spring and Fall when more people can put it to good use. By moving to Pacific time and ending daylight saving time we can still reap the economic benefit of the added daylight without dealing with the clock change twice a year!
