Support Gainesville Fire Rescue in getting ambulances
The Issue
EMS providers in Gainesville need your help! There is a documented need for additional ambulances in the City of Gainesville and Alachua County. This need, which has been well document by the Gainesville Sun may be reviewed by visiting: www.StrengthenGainesville.org
Alachua County's Fire Master Plan has documented the need for additional ambulances for over a decade. Alachua County Fire Rescue's paramedics are often asked to conduct non-life threatening inter-facility transfers, that are normally reserved for private transport companies, in frontline ambulances, sometimes to areas as far away as Tennessee! This is Alachua County Fire Rescue's "Business Model" and has led to shortages in available ambulances and higher workloads for Alachua County Fire Rescue Paramedics.
Gainesville Fire Rescue has offered to add additional ambulances to assist with the EMS call load. To place these ambulance into service, Gainesville Fire Rescue must be given permission by the Alachua County Commision. Please sign our petition and let your commissioners know you support a stronger EMS system with multiple ambulance providers to meet the needs of our citizens!
