The petition is to help ensure fair and equal treatment of airboaters in Alachua county Florida.  We feel that the 7pm curfew against airboaters is discriminatory in nature and is a growing trend that has been hurting the airboat industry and stripping away a vital part of Florida's great heritage. 

All Airboats are already required to meet strict guidelines in accordance with noise ordinances and many go above and beyond in an effort to ensure that they are not creating an issue. 

Many airboaters grew up airboating with their families, and seek to be able to bring those joys and experiences to their children, and grandchildren. 

In addition, this curfew is in direct conflict with state issued gator tags for gator hunting. The hours allowed by the state of Florida for gator hunting in an effort to help maintain the gator population numbers, are during the curfew hours. Most of the areas where gators can be hunted can not safely be reached by any other means than by Airboat.  

This curfew hurts families that depend on these activities for income. It also takes away freedoms from a single group of Americans or puts discriminatory limitations on them.
