Nolan Kidd started this petition to Alabama State House and

For years, Warrior Asphalt (located at 3100 Warrior Road, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35404) has been releasing a strong odor/asphalt fumes into the air in and around Tuscaloosa, Alabama.  Recently, this odor has gotten noticeably worse in frequency, duration, and intensity.  As a result, quality of life has diminished for those living in the Tuscaloosa region, as evidenced by the numerous complaints submitted to the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (visit http://app.adem.alabama.gov/complaints and search for air complaints in Tuscaloosa County).  Multiple families have reported acute health effects after being exposed to this contaminated air (see the link above).  Frequently, the stench gets so strong, that families are forced to cease outdoor activities, even in their own backyards, and install expensive air filters in their homes to keep the smell out.  This odor and contaminated air not only hurts the quality of life for those having to life with it on a daily basis, but also the image of Tuscaloosa for visitors, and the economic development of the area.

Thus, we respectfully request the Alabama State Legislature to pass legislation that would result in the elimination of the odor and asphalt fumes emanating from the Warrior Asphalt factory.

This problem has been going on for a long time, and is only getting worse, with no noticeable concessions made by Warrior Asphalt to stop this degradation of Tuscaloosa's living.  So please join us and the rest of Tuscaloosa in signing this petition so that we can make Tuscaloosa's air cleaner for everyone, once and for all!

**For those who believe in Tuscaloosa, and want results faster, please also call State Representative Bill Poole's office at (334) 261-0524, give them your name, and ask that Rep. Poole give you his cooperation in supporting our petition.**
