Walmart in Pell City, AL and Pell city high school principal - discriminating against lgbtq teens.
My lgbtq family member and her teen classmates were recently discriminated against by Pell City High school principal in Pell City Alabama. With homecoming coming up... as you know that means PARADE.... in order to do a float that isn't academic related, a student must have 30 of their peers sign a petition form saying they'd like to see the float in the parade... My niece comes up with the idea to do a LBGT PRIDE float... she and another girl go around and get 110 SIGNATURES for this float before submitting it to the principal... the petition is approved at first, then he comes back and rejects it.... so she goes and gets 400 SIGNATURES from kids AND TEACHERS saying they'd like to have this float in the parade...She is then told by her principal to stop "SHOVING IT DOWN PEOPLE'S THROATS" they just want to be represented in their school's parade. Soon after, her and a friend paint their hands in rainbow colors, and "stamp" rainbow colored handprints all over their bodies and white shirts... and went to get signatures from the community to help them out... they went in Walmart and the manager approached them, asked what they were doing and then rudely told them Walmart was private property and to "get out".
