This coming Tuesday, May 21st at 7:00 pm, will be a special OCDE Board meeting to discuss how to save CHEP. At the last meeting we only had four CHEP parents show up, including myself. This time we need a lot more.
The meeting will be held at the OCDE main office at:
200 Kalmus Dr, Costa Mesa, CA 92626
I can’t stress enough how vital this meeting will be. Of course we want parents from all three sites to attend but especially those from North and West.
I’m a bit stressed out because I am unable to attend. I’ll be taking my son to Washington D.C. for the TARC competition and we won’t be back in time. But I have faith in those who have verified to me that they will be there and are taking point in my stead.
My previous post about our chances to save the sites by getting 130 students interested or enrolled in CHEP by June 1st has hit a snag. The latest information we have is that we now must get 130 students actually enrolled by June 1st, rather than interested or enrolled as previously reported.
I have asked that the Superintendent to email me with the full details of what must be done, but I have not received anything yet. So for now we need to print out enrollment forms and actually get people to sign up. They can then either turn them in or we can do that for them. The more we can get the better.

For those not familiar with TARC, it’s the Team America Rocketry Challenge. Nine of our West and North CHEP students plus one PCHS student beat out 728 other teams nationally, to be in the top 102. If they win in D.C. then they will compete internationally in Paris.
