Ever since the start of the Indian Super League in 2014, there has been a disruption in Indian Football. It has been a bumpy ride with both positives and negatives. But, a nation cannot have 2 Leagues running through the calendar year. 

With the advent of the U-17 World Cup in India, in September, the world is going to be looking at India. The Football scene needs to be sorted out by then to ensure that there is a smooth transition to development within this calendar year.

The I-League has been disappointing with poor turnouts & poor revenue and the ISL has certainly done good in this aspect. But it runs only for 3 months and that is not in anyway good for the development of Indian Football.
We have players juggling between clubs and the changing environment, coaches,teammates, playing styles isn't going to help the players. It is only going to subject them to pressure and fatigue. We must understand that the players are not machines, to keep performing at these circumstances.

Inadvertently, this is hampering the National Team as well. These players now move on to a different coach during the camp and don't get enough time to bond well. Since the ISL doesn't come under FIFA/AFC rules, there are no international breaks and players are released by clubs late.

It is every single Indian Football Fan's demand that the 2 leagues are merged within 2017. An action plan should be made within the end of the I-League season and the final proposal be made before the start of the U-17 World Cup, so that by the end of the WC, the new structure can start.

We only wish that 2017 be the turning point for Indian Football.
