The Land Transport of Livestock Standards 2012 need to be changed to prevent this inhumane truck ride for horses from Victoria trucked to Queensland to be slaughtered for human consumption. This truck ride of 1550 kms across 3 states is a cruel end to their lives, no water, no feed, no break -it is almost 22 hours from loading until unloading at the abattoir and then further hours of no water until slaughter. A horse consumes about 25 litres of water each day. This cruelty is in contravention of the Queensland Animal Care and Protection Act which seeks to protect animals from unjustifiable, unnecessary or unreasonable pain. 

These horses were once a loved companion, a racehorse that tried their best to please their humans, they were trained to form relationships of love and trust with their humans. Now they have been cast away as wastage from trainers or syndicates, from people who can't cope with the ravages of drought, not realising that the greedy meat buyers seek to profit from the dead bodies of their beloved companion.
