BACKGROUND:
Our goal with this petition is to persuade Governor Hochul to sign Bill 7686A introduced by Assembly Member Alex Bores. The uncontentious bi-partisan Bill passed in both the State Senate (59-1) and Assembly (145-0) in June. The bill, should it be signed by the Governor, will allow the Greys and similar groups to use their space within the Park Avenue Armory (and would affect no other NY Armory).
Now we need Governor Hochul to sign the bill into law. Governor Hochul passed the SAFE act to protect the children of New York. It is our hope that the Governor will act now to protect our children's vital programming that is under attack.
In this David v. Goliath tale, the Park Avenue Armory Conservancy has brought a lawsuit in New York Civil Court against our kids that has dragged on for 2 years against the Greys in a misguided effort to kick our kids out of their home at the Armory of 120 years! However, the Conservancy is not the landlord - they are a tenant. They do not own the building. The State of New York owns the building. The People & children of New York own this building!
