No bears caught today

Bella Coola Update:

Conservation officers continue efforts to capture any bears that may have been involved in the Bella Coola attack.

No bears have been captured so far. Various trapping techniques are being implemented as these efforts continue, with officers being rotated into the community.

COs are also consulting with provincial wildlife biologists with the Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship, pending the capture of any bears.

COs are working collaboratively with the Nuxalk Nation and the community, taking time to share information and answer questions.

As new information becomes available, officers will assess and adapt their response as needed. Public safety remains a priority, and we continue to urge the public to avoid the Snooka West Trail area. #BCCOS
