Good Morning,
Attached is an article reviewing the trailer of CBS's new comedy "The United States of Al":

No One Left Behind has been working with the CBS writers for the last year. We provided them with real life stories and introduced them to our SIV Ambassadors so that they and the actors could hear directly from SIVs. Unfortunately, you have to remember that only 1% of the United States population serve in the military (down from 9% during WW2 - https://www.census.gov/library/publications/2020/demo/acs-43.html and maybe 1% of that 1% worked directly with interpreters. So the show has a lot of work to do to make Al's story relatable to the 99% of Americans who weren't in the military.
That's where we come in! On first glance, the honor code (pashtunwali) between Riley the Marine and Al the interpreter is legit. Try not to tear up watching Riley's sister thank Al for protecting her brother. Watch Al touch his heart.
Just how The Big Bang Theory made STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) "cool," the writers (who come from The Big Bang Theory) are attempting to do the same with immigration. It's a big lift especially after the last 4 years, but we have faith they can do it. And we'll be right here to make sure we translate - get it?! - the show's success into meaningful policy reform to protect our allies.
Thank you, be sure to watch on April 1st, and please Share, Share, Share!
