Hi everyone,
I wanted to give you an update following the recent attention around clothing affordability and op shop pricing.
We hit yahoo!!
Like many of you, I’ve heard countless stories from people who are struggling to access basic clothing. Not just for their kids, but for themselves as well. And one thing has been very clear:
People shouldn’t have to justify why they need help to access something as basic as clothing.
So instead of just talking about the problem, I’ve decided to take action.
I’m starting a community clothing project in Tasmania through Feral Mums Healing.
The idea is simple:
We collect good quality clothing (new or second hand)
We sort and pack items into usable bundles
And we provide them to people who reach out
No cost. No judgement. No explaining yourself.
This will be a fully volunteer-based, pay-it-forward initiative, focused on dignity, accessibility, and real support.
We will also be:
ensuring all items are clean and wearable
only accepting new underwear
protecting the privacy of anyone who reaches out
Right now, I’m in the early stages and working through how to set this up properly, including storage, volunteers, and logistics.
If you’re in Tasmania and would like to:
donate clothing
volunteer your time
offer storage space
I would love to hear from you.
You can also read more about the broader conversation in the yahoo link.
Let’s make change!
