Dear Admissions Team,

We are Satish Pakki and Roja Pakki, residents of RG6 3 postcode. Currently our daughter Vanshika Pakki goes to Year 5 in Hawkedon Primary School.

As per the consultation below:

https://www.kendrick.reading.sch.uk/_site/data/files/users/admissions/consultation%20on%202020%20policies/F88ED14C1379A8C18A476923C4A668D7.pdf

We have gone through "Year 7 Admission Policy – September 2020 Entry" and are delighted to know that number of places in Year 7 for September 2020 have been increased to 128. However, we are disheartened by allocating RG6 3 and RG6 4 as Priority 2 area whilst all other postcodes have been declared as Priority 1.

We would like to understand what artefacts have been considered to exclude the above mentioned 2 postcode from Priority 1 list.

Our appeal is : Whole of RG6 area should be in Priority Area 1.

The reason being, we think that grammar school entrance is a competitive exam and all children irrespective of their location, race, caste, creed, religion, ethnic group, economic background should be treated equally to ensure fair competition! Our genuine concern is very specific to the fact that two children living in the same RG6 postcode are being treated differently and this creates unnecessary disparities between children. Competitive exam is meant be competitive but not preferential please!

Key point we would like to emphasise is, all children from RG6 postcode should be treated the same to have fair competition. Hence please consider whole of RG6 postcode in "Priority Area 1" to offer fair competition to all girls who are aspiring for Kendrick Grammar School from same postcode.

Below is a link created by one of colleagues at work James Coombs who really put in a great effort to get lot of information about this.

https://trak.org.uk/

According the link above "Residents of Lower Earley with postcodes starting RG6 3 or RG6 4 and Woodley might wonder why they aren’t considered as local when those living twice as far away in Chazey Heath and Theale are"

This doesn't look like RG6 3 and RG6 4 have been put in Priority 2 area due to radial distance as well, so this is totally unfair. Lower Earley is part of Reading and cannot be put in priority 2 with Guildford, Slough and Oxford postcodes. Apparently this is based on the fact that RG6 4 and RG6 4 belong to Wokingham council. But Reading Boys grammar school do not follow the same logic and treats all RG6 postcodes with equal priority.

Thanks for your time and co-operation to address our appeal. Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

 Your's sincerely,

 Satish Pakki

 Roja Pakki
