Today, Kaipara Council voted to remove the Māori Ward seat. That isn't the end of this, it will end once this decision is over turned. 

This petition started as a simple gesture of support. For now I will await direction from those closer to the issue. Please continue to sign and share for now because this is not over yet. I believe Kaipara Council are the first council to vote and their decision should not be seen as typical around the country. We are standing at the front looking forward, we will need to discuss this with whanau around the country as they also face the same potential outcomes. Please korero with whanau and friends around the country because they will also need support. 

Once there is some clear direction , we will make a decision about how this petition will be carried forward. At 7am this Morning over 800 signatures were sent to Kaipara Council for consideration. There are now over 1000 signatures a d that number comes from 5 days of gathering.
