I have been gratified by the response to this petition. One person messaged me to make sure I knew that the current rules indicate that it is not a mile away from school that is the threshold., but rather just a half a mile. (https://www.schools.nyc.gov/school-life/transportation/bus-eligibility

I believe that the distance from school should have NO impact on eligibility. This new program is NOT just about getting students to school and back (if it was, it would not continue one weekend or in the Summer...) it is about enabling our children to have access to the amazing opportunities that the city offers. Be they museums, or zoos, after-school rpograms, or baseball practice, and even meeting up with friends to see a movie, or hang out and play Xbox (although I do wish my kids did less of the Xbox).
