Hello Supporters. Thank you so much for getting behind this campaign, it has been 2 weeks since started & we have now received a response from Adrian Degreas. Please join the group on link below called Black Society Solutions Group for Business Ideas & Community Solutions <3 Now back to the topic at hand please see her response & let us know below how you feel about this Dear Tanya, We have seen your comments on our Facebook page and we would like to explain what might be a misunderstanding of our work. The Adriana Degreas brand does not promote, endorse or accept any racist or any other discriminatory practice or bias regarding gender, race or religious belief. The Collection was created in homage to the Brazilian state of Bahia, particularly to honor the culture of the women from Bahia. The particular image that has created distress (only outside of Brazil) is that of a Saint called Escrava Anastácia, a very important religious figure in Brazil, both for Catholics and Umbanda (Afro-Brazilian religion) practitioners. Escrava Anastácia's figure is always represented as such (with the horrible muzzle collar) and she is known in Brazil as symbol for women's strenght, resilience and the struggle for freedom. As many other Saints in Catholicism, she is depicted in a situation of martyrdom. We understand now that the image, when seen outside of context, can give rise to interpretations that may offend people from other cultures, If that is the case we would like to apologize for any unwanted distress we may have caused you. it is important to say that this piece is not for sale in our collections and we will have a special care for collections that may seem condoning any form of prejudice. Again, we wish you best regards and thank you for taking you time to fight for a just and honorable cause as is the struggle against racism. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us at marketing@adrianadegreas.com.br Thank You
