RE: Canoe Place Shinnecock Canal PDD (CPICEMPDD)
Dear Planning Board Chairperson Dennis Finnerty, Vice Chair John Blaney, Board Members Cathie Gandel, Philip A. Keith, Jacqui Lofaro, Robin Long and John Zuccarelli:
I’m writing to ask you to deny or at least postpone site plan approval: we’ve not read nor seen the Seqr report for the proposed road changes as required by law.
Secondly, have changes to the public water supply feed been made to accommodate those in the neighborhood suffering inconsistent water pressure?
I would also like to know if approvals have been given, because paperwork on file at the Planning Board during visits have been incomplete,
including accompanying comments:
- Hampton Bays Water District regarding public water supply
- Fire Marshal
- Town Engineer review and approval of calculation of stormwater retention and the design of the drainage system
- Wetland Permit Application
- NYS Dept of Environmental Conservation
- SC Dept of Health Services/Office of Waste Water
- Town Dept of Fire Prevention
- HB CAC
- Town Architectural Review Board/Dept of Building & Zoning
The CPICEMPDD is dependent on historic reconstruction of the Canoe Place Inn: have construction drawings been approved that specifically identify historic fabric being saved and used/or duplicated to rehabilitate the structure? That renew the Inn’s essential visual characteristics to the significant period between 1922 and World War II?
I ask the Town of Southampton Planning Board to adhere to their mission of ensuring public health and safety:
table and/or deny any site plan or construction approvals for the Canoe Place Inn and Shinnecock Canal PDD until all questions are answered, resolved appropriately in favor of the people. Some answers will be forthcoming in a ruling by Judge Rebollini on the future of the historic Shinnecock Canal and our neighborhoods.
Please, I would appreciate your thoughtful consideration:
the Canal is the gateway to our homes, community: we cherish the historic character of our Town.
Respectfully,
Your name
Southampton
