Dear Supporter, thank you so much for supporting this petition in 2025. 

Silver Voices had notable campaign successes in 2025, including the restoration of winter fuel payments for most, and a significant concession on taxing the state pension (with the details still to be worked out in 2026). We fought off constant attacks on the Triple Lock and calls to means test the state pension and, working with other organisations, secured concessions on the planned DWP spying powers on pension credit claimants.

However, we have so far made little progress on the social care crisis, and have only forced delays in the transfer of traditional landlines to digital telephones and ensured a greater focus on safety. The New Year will bring all these challenges afresh, but plenty of new ones too, including the plans for a national ID system, posing a severe risk of exclusion from vital services for those unable or unwilling to comply. 

Our future successes and resistance to cuts to pensioner entitlements depend on older people joining us as full members, because nature unfortunately means that we lose many long-standing members every year and our organisation needs constant financing in order to keep growing in influence. 

Silver Voices is the only UK-wide representative organisation for individual senior citizens and without us older rights would be shredded, whoever is in power.
