Government Wavering Over Winter Fuel Rethink: Keep Up The Pressure!
The Silver Voices renewed campaign to force the Government to restore winter fuel payments is already having an impact. Newspaper front pages in the last few days have covered a briefing from Labour that the policy is being reviewed in the light of the disastrous local election results. But we can't count our chickens yet, all that might emerge from the review is a fiddling around the margins of the eligibility levels, benefiting a few, but not the millions who have been deprived of this vital benefit. Only radical solutions will be acceptable, so we must keep up our pressure.
