Group, Over 1000 of us have signed in only 2 days and notified the Attorney General in Colombo Sri Lanka that the world is watching this case. Unfortunately, even though the government promised to rehabilitate and release the calves back to their herds, a corrupt court issued an order to release the calves to the captors. We are asked to contact the Sri Lankan embassies in our countries and tell them that we are aware of this cruelty and corruption. The Sri Lankan government only cares if their behavior affects tourism. Here is the Sri Lanka embassy in US email: slembassy@slembassyusa.org The local advocates request that people no attend the Esala Perehera because the illegally-captured calves will be force marching in Buddhist ceremonies instead of with their herds in the wild. Note, 20 calves have already died from abuse.
