Proposed Pig Farm/Slaughterhouse would be located near town endangering: public health, air quality, and most importantly water quality including polluting our pristine tourist-attracting waterways and underground aquifers.
- Pig manure lagoons leak, seep, and spill into waterways, waste-water is dumped into waterways into our aquifers causing detrimental aquatic death, disruption of food-chains, destruction of ecosystems, and human diseases alike. All surrounding waterways will be damaged with no protection or regulation of environmental codes ending our livelihood as well as tourist attractions.
- Increase of greenhouse gases from Farm/Slaughterhouse are worse than car emissions, malodorous compound exposures to residents cause psychophysiological changes as well as civil liberty restrictions on outside utilization of property.
- Farm/Slaughterhouses are known to increase health illnesses, in particular: Respiratory hazards such as Asthma, Chronic Bronchitis/Rhinitis, Farmer's Lung (FHP), Organic Dust Toxicity Syndrome, Silo Filler's Disease (can result in death with high concentrations of Ammonia, Hydrogen Sulfide, Carbon Dioxide, Nitrogen Dioxide). Zoonotic infections such as brucellosis, erysipeloid, strepococcus suis meningitis, ascariasis, swine flu, scabies, ringworm, leptospirosis, toxoplasmosis, salmonellosis, trichinosis, and cysticercosis, and antibiotic resistance MRSA. Mental changes such as Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD) of workers and Progressive Inflammatory Neuropathy (PIN) a disorder affecting the sensory peripheral nerves and spinal nerve roots from inhaling pig brain cells causing paralysis in lower extremities.
