Last week Wednesday, many students relying on the funza lushaka for their allowances were left behind due to outstanding banking details. As a self-funded student, I experienced the same setback. Along with other affected students, I submitted my banking details on that very Wednesday. By the following Monday, our information had been verified. However, those responsible for managing and processing our allowances have remained silent. I personally called for an update and asked for a specific date as to when we will receive our allowances, only to be dismissed and told about others with still-outstanding documentation.

The delay in receiving these funds is causing significant hardships. We lack the finances to purchase essential study materials, laptops, and data, crucial for our education. With exams scheduled for next month, the procrastination is detrimental to our preparedness and overall academic success. These delays compromise not only the quality of our education but also our mental well-being due to the stress and uncertainty they create.

Funza plays a critical role in supporting students who might otherwise not afford higher education. However, these persistent delays in disbursements severely hinder students' ability to access necessary resources, threatening their academic progress. This issue needs immediate attention and rectification.

I am calling upon funza management and the relevant authorities to:

1. Expedite the processing and distribution of allowances to all verified students immediately.
2. Implement a more efficient and transparent system for handling banking details and documentation, ensuring no future submissions are unnecessarily delayed.
3. Provide timely and clear communication regarding disbursements and any issues that may arise in the interim.

By addressing these points, institutions can ensure that students are equipped with the necessary tools to succeed in their studies without the additional burden of worrying about financial support. We understand that bureaucracy takes time, but our education should not be jeopardized because of administrative hurdles.
