Hi everyone! Thanks to your donations, we have been able to send money to Francis (Joel's dad) and Faith over the last several months to help them with transportation to doctors' appointments. However, we are now requesting your help because we're out of money and want to make sure Joel & Sarah receive the medical care they need!
JOEL: After many months of steroid injections and creams to reduce the size of his keloid scars, Joel is scheduled for plastic surgery at Kiruddu Hospital in Kampala, Uganda on October 16! Transportation to and from the hospital and medical supplies needed while he recovers from surgery will cost $350. Please donate to ensure Joel receives the care he needs!
SARAH: Faith's daughter Sarah (pictured in the photo) has been improving! She was born with club foot and Faith has been taking her to regular appointments at the hospital, where Sarah legs are being stretched and put into casts to help correct the clubfoot. Thanks to your donations (especially those who do recurring donations!), RISE has been able to send Faith money so she can take Sarah to these appointments. However, we now need your help raising $150. Daniel says: “I have managed to talk with Faith. She has greeted you and appreciated you for everything. She told me that Sarah has gone through different treatments by changing different shoes she wears. But right now, they are being needed in hospital every month until Sarah is one year old. Then, they will change another treatment until two years old, then the final treatment will span up to when Sarah is three years old. About how she is surviving with her kids, Faith started purchasing dried coffee and is selling them. She is also still cultivating maize and beans. She and her kids are ok but the extra money needed to get Sarah to the hospital every month is too much. She told me that any help from you will be a blessing.” Please donate here.
UPDATE ON THE LAW: Our legal team in Uganda has had a lot of promising conversations with lawmakers in the last month. October 9 is Independence Day for Uganda and once these celebrations are over, the legal team will be following up with relevant members of parliament and doing their best to solicit the support needed to present the bill to Parliament. The waiting is difficult but our legal team continues to feel confident about the prospects of the law passing.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us through donations and thoughts and prayers! We really appreciate the support you've shown us and the survivors we help support!
