We had a great zoom call with our Ugandan team! Thank you to everyone who stopped in to ask questions and hear more about this phase of our work. We'll upload the recording soon so you can hear from Julie and Daniel about their experiences with the legal system after being attacked. You'll also hear from Sibo, one of the members of the RISE legal team, about the bill we are proposing.
RISE is doing all we can to ensure we are prepared for the big conference happening in Uganda April 2-4! The first day will be the launch of the Situational Analysis, the report detailing results and recommendations based on our interviews with over 150 acid attack survivors throughout Uganda. The second and third days will involve a smaller group of people who will meet to review and make recommendations to the bill that our legal team has written. This process helps ensure that the Ugandan parliament knows we have done our due diligence in making the bill the best it can be before it's presented to parliament.
Invitations have been sent out for the big conference and 'yes' RSVP's are coming in fast! We are really encouraged that so many dignitaries in Uganda are responding positively to our call for this law.
PLEASE HELP US CONTINUE TO RAISE FUNDS TO SUPPORT THIS BIG INITIATIVE. YOU CAN DONATE HERE OR CHECK OUT THE RISE ARTISAN MARKETPLACE (WITH SPECIAL THINGS HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND :))
