Thank you so much to everyone who has signed our petition in the last few days! Your support means so much to RISE and the acid attack survivors we serve. RISE is fortunate to have Daniel Kasolo and Julie Bukirwa leading the research needed to get a law against acid attacks in Uganda. Daniel and Julie are acid attack survivors themselves and getting a law against acid violence is a very personal cause for them. When we (RISE, Daniel and Julie) see our petition picking up new signatures, we feel very encouraged. It's hard work traveling across Uganda, doing radio interviews, searching for survivors to interview! It's also hard work getting people to sign a petition like ours when many people have never heard of acid violence or have little idea about the level of poverty survivors in Uganda experience.
