Growing up and enjoying countless hours on Hearts of Iron 4, it has always been a dream to see my native language, Ukrainian, reflected in my favorite strategy game. Speaking with numerous fellow Ukrainian players, I've realized that this is not just my dream; it's a collective desire of many within our community. Many of us have voiced similar sentiments—wishing to experience this complex and fascinating game in the language closest to our hearts.

Hearts of Iron 4 is a globally renowned strategy game that immerses players into critical historical scenarios. Currently, it supports several languages, which allows players from those regions to enjoy a more personalized and engaging experience. Unfortunately, Ukrainian, despite being one of the widely spoken languages in Europe and among the Hearts of Iron community, is not yet available. There is a considerable audience within Ukraine and among the Ukrainian diaspora who would greatly appreciate, and benefit from, access to this game in their native tongue.

A 2018 census states that there are over 30 million Ukrainian speakers worldwide. Incorporating the Ukrainian language would not only cater to those millions but also help bridge cultural and linguistic gaps, encouraging more people from Ukraine to engage with the game. Enhancing accessibility to non-English speaking communities has been known to increase a game’s popularity and success, as evidenced by many game titles which have embraced inclusivity.

We urge Paradox Interactive, the creators of Hearts of Iron 4, to acknowledge and embrace the diversity of its player base by adding Ukrainian language support to the game. This small but significant step would go a long way in making Ukrainian players feel valued and included. It would also create a more enriching experience for everyone involved, by broadening the horizons of the game's reach.
