I just received an email that was although polite, unfortunately a hard pass on offering ASL. I believe the district would like to do it, but they have put many other items ahead of creating an equitable solution to accessing a foreign language for all students. Currently their solution is a flex credit system with a private payer option for families. Sadly, we're all aware of what our current taxes already are within the Olentangy school district. To me a private payer option for children who can't effectively access online materials due to learning differences seems like an nonsolution. I think we might need to be a little louder for those of us that really want this to become a reality. I hate to share, disappointing news, but please know that I am not giving up.
