Petition updateJustice for Elijah McClainFight for Elijah's family
Justice for Elijah McClainAurora, CO, United States
Dec 4, 2020

It’s been a minute since our last update and we have lots of important news to share. First, the good: after significant public pressure, Governor Polis reversed his previous executive order which appeared to limit the scope of the state investigation into Elijah’s death. Attorney General Phil Weiser is now being directed to investigate “any potential criminal activity by law enforcement officers or any other individuals that caused the death of Elijah McClain.”

This is important, it shows that our pressure is working!

And we need to keep it up, because the City of Aurora has filed a motion to dismiss the McClain family’s Wrongful Death lawsuit. It’s been 15 months since Elijah’s death and his family has had no justice. Now the city that killed him wants to dismiss their case altogether?

Take action now. Click here to call the city and reject attempts to silence Elijah’s family.

Elijah’s family needs our help. Please call today!

Lastly, this month the officers who were fired for mocking his death in a smiling chokehold selfie near the site where he was detained, will go in front of the civil service commission to appeal their termination and ask to be reinstated. One of the officers was present on the night that Elijah was attacked and was only fired AFTER the photo surfaced. The sheer lack of respect for human life makes them a danger to the public and they should not be police officers. Add your name to this petition opposing their reinstatement.

Thank you for your continued support!
