VICTORY ON UNIVERSAL PASS-NO PASS! SUPER LIGHT WAS SUPER RIGHT!

SUPER PETER LIGHT ANNOUNCES IT'S A UNIVERSAL PASS-NO CREDIT FOR THE WHOLE SEMESTER Those of us who pushed for pass-no pass have won! The administration had a hard decision to make as there was a pretty even split, and so it did quite a bit of work to consider viewpoints both in and outside our district. The Superintendent's decision followed the results of a survey that shows very mixed results indeed.  Virtually half of the high school stakeholders the administration recently surveyed - parents, students, and teachers - were in favor of pass-no credit, and the other half was in favor of giving the students a choice between pass-no credit and letter grades. But that's only if you put all three groups together. A majority of parents surveyed were in favor of the option of grades or pass-no credit, but the other two groups, both students themselves, and teachers, were in favor of the universal pass-no credit policy. But according to today's letter from the Superintendent Light and Principal Dorey, to the school committee for tomorrow night, the most experienced educators in the high school were solidly behind a universal pass-no credit policy for the third quarter grading period.  The administration truly did some comprehensive work in asking many others (universities, school's legal counsel, etc.) for advice. In the end, it was Super Light's decision, and a wise one, I believe, to follow the apparently strong opinion of the high school educators in our district.

Thanks all for your support of this petition, and for making your views known through direct emails and through participating in the school's survey, among other things.  And thanks to Super Light for getting it Super Right!
