Hi everyone,

Thanks again for signing this petition I have just finished a new petition (see below) that is a legal petition to be presented & read in the BC Legislature but I need your help. To the Honourable the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, in Legislature Assembled: The petition of the undersigned, residents of the Province British Columbia, states that:

In November 2022, Premier David Eby and the NDP Provincial Government used cloture (aka closure) to force the passage of Bill 44, with the expressed opposition of the Condominium Home Owner's Association. These were significant and unfair amendments to the Strata Property Act. They removed the rights of strata corporations to restrict or limit the number of rentals in a strata and also removed the rights of strata corporations to establish age restrictions other than 55 years of age and older. Strata corporations established these restrictions after careful debate and discussion, achieving owner approval of 75% or more. Bill 44 strips away British Columbians choice of their desired lifestyle. It has created anger and shock throughout B.C.and will also create animosity and division within strata communities.

 

Your petitioners respectfully request that the Honourable House: repeal Bill 44 or pass legislation to delay its implementation with a transition period of at least six months so that there can be public consultation and hearings and the engagement of the MLA’s from all political parties. This legislation

 has not been well thought out and will negatively impact millions of owners in strata corporations in BC.
