Dear all,
Yesterday, the renowned German daily newspaper FAZ reported about Hornbach's yearly financial statement press conference, which took place on May 27, 2019. The article analyzed that the company might have soothed the internet community by now, yet not its investors.
The company lost about one-third of its value in the last twelve months. It is obvious that Hornbach Holding AG tried to gain public attention so that to gain more customers. But this time they went just too far. Instead of usual "bad publicity," we gave them "catastrophic publicity," and the company's lacking ability to make a good decision and to manage the crisis unsettles the investors even more.
Here is some news:
1. The Dutch Stichting Reclame Code is discussing Hornbach's ad anew. Their new decision will be announced within a few weeks. Hornbach Nederlands is the last branch that still shows the racist and sexist video on the frontpage of their YouTube channel. Please send complaints to the PR-Managers.
2. On May 16, 2019, the Czech Advertising Committee made a decision on Hornbach's commercial. The decision will be published this week.
3. Barbara Laura Hornbach, a family member of the company and shareholder of Hornbach Holding AG (as of Oct. 5, 2017), was elected to the city council of Neustadt/Weinstrasse as the first candidate of the Green Party. The problem is: In the past, Hornbach sold illegally cut woods from the last jungle of Europe in Romania.
Even worse: after stopping buying the woods, the company sued a local environmental activist group Delic. As a shareholder, she could have raised a voice against buying woods cut from Romanian jungle and suing the NGO. Instead, she obviously silenced. It is a time for her to decide between the company's interest and the ecological value that the German Green Party stands for.
4. Next week, there is going to be an announcement regarding the petition and the campaign.
Thanks!
