Help the ACT and it's veterinary practices become part on the National Desexing Network.

Help the ACT and it's veterinary practices become part on the National Desexing Network.

The issue

The National Desexing Network (NDN) is a nationwide referral system for discounted desexing made available to pet owners in financial need. Their goal is to end pet overpopulation by making this service more affordable to those who might not otherwise be in a position to de-sex their pets.

Unfortunately, Canberra is the only state within Australia that is not on board with this fantastic and much needed initiative. I'm calling on all you and all Canberran's to help the ACT become part of this essential service to help prevent pet over population, over crowded shelters, unwanted pets and a number of medical conditions pets may suffer due to not being de-sexed.

Spaying and neutering of pets is a very quick and simple procedure, usually taking no longer than 10 minutes for a male animal and 20 to 90 minutes for a female. Canberran's are currently being forced to pay up to $400 (sometimes more) to have this procedure done!

Not everyone is in a financial position to afford this. Especially those who are low income earners. Due to the ridiculously high cost of this procedure, it becomes very hard for a lot of responsible pet owners to abide by the domestic animal ownership laws. And this is not acceptable!

I urge you to take a minute out of your day to sign this petition to help get Canberra, it's veterinary clinics, and responsible pet owners up to date and on board with this essential service. Why should the ACT be the only state that is not participating to help prevent pet over population?
