787 being transformed to accommodate and benefit the community is no longer a matter of 'if' but 'when'. This could not have been done without all the support received from the community, and the public in general. For that, we thank everyone for your support. Decision makers and those in power now recognize the benefits of transforming 787 in Albany and are actively seeking funds for the planning and feasibility studies required with ARC is assistance. Our role now is to make sure the process is fully inclusionary, the priorities remain the community (not the communter, though they are accommodated) and is not - once a gain - a top down decision making approach. We will also continue to educate the public about design trends, case studies, proposal analysis as well as keep the public up to date on the process and asking for input. This petition served the purpose of creating enthusiasm, obtaining large scale public buy-in, getting the attention of leaders and them beginning the process of requesting funding to redesign 787. That is now occurring. The ARC's work is not done but this petition successfully initiated the path to change that so many desire for City of Albany, its residents & neighborhoods, its mighty river and future generations to come.
