Decrease the number of Radiology residency positions.
Decrease the number of Radiology residency positions.
The Issue
For the past decade there has been a disconnect between the number of radiology residents being trained and the demand for radiologists in the country. This wasteful practice has led an oversupply of radiologists and has to a great shortage of jobs available for newly trained residents. The tax payers dollars that are being used to fund this wasteful practice could certainly be more useful if applied to other areas of greater need such as primary care medicine. This petition is designed to collect signatures from a variety of radiologists, both academic and community practice, as a means of representing our solidarity in asking the ACGME to immediately make efforts to reduce the number of radiology residents being trained.
