I am calling the announcement by the Province that the auditor general has been directed to conduct an audit of the NPCA a victory. Further, motions to amendmend the legislation will be forthcoming: one that would give the government the authority to appoint a supervisor to oversee a conservation authority, and one that would prohibit members of municipal councils from being employees of an authority. Although the auditor general has been directed to conduct the audit, Lysyk said her investigations are in-depth and take six months to a year to complete. She doesn't expect the NPCA audit will begin until the early new year and it is unlikely it will be finished before the 2018 elections. When the report is done it will be presented to the legislature at Queen's Park, she said.
